Everyday, during my travel from home to Mayo Hospital through the busy traffic of Lahore, I observe a major cause of road accident. While waiting patiently at the traffic signal, the traffic on my lane moves before the signal turns green. People usually wait impatiently for the signal on the other side (for the oncoming traffic) which is green to go red, and do not observe their own signal. A less than five seconds delay between the one signal to go red and the other green, to allow the tail of the traffic to pass through the square, is not followed.
A lot of collisions occur daily due to lack of five seconds patience at traffic signals. I request to the community to observe this tiny five seconds patience as it can save many lives daily. This simple step can curtail burden on emergency departments of hospitals.
