PHC issues notices to federation, provinces in 10 missing persons’ cases

The federation, provincial governments and political administration of different tribal agencies were issued notice by Peshawar High Court’s two member bench in ten different missing persons’ cases. Chief justice Ejaz Afzal Khan and Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel were hearing separate petitions filed by Noor Bibi, Kaki, Khana Bibi, Fasihullah, Mohammad Bilal, Meharullah, Aurangzeb, Jan Mohammad, Marwat Khan and Mehar Taja of Peshawar, Nowshera, Buner and tribal belt of Khyber agency.
The petitioners, in different petitions, had alleged that local police and military forces had picked up their relatives and had not produced them before the courts nor given proof of their involvement in any case, rendering the arrests and detentions illegal. The court issued notices to federal, provincial and political administrations and directed them to submit their reply to the petition before the next hearing on August 16 and 17.
