The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa office of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has arrested the provincial director Archaeology and Museums, Abdul Samad for alleged “abuse of authority”.

It has been reported that the accountability watchdog had received a complaint against the official pertaining to corruption and misuse of power. Then, a probe was initiated into the matter.

“The accused person in connivance with others misused his authority and made numerous appointments at different archaeological sites in gross violation of rules,” an official statement added.

In a separate development, NAB has also arrested Syed Hussamuddin Shah from Rawalpindi due to absconding allegations in the Modarba scam case.

According to a statement, he was allegedly involved in stealing public funds in the name of ‘investment’ in Islamic Mudarraba.

The accused will be brought to the accountability court in Peshawar by NAB to obtain a physical remand.
