–Railways minister says PR capable enough to ‘launch its own missile’

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad has announced to set a Guinness World Record by spending an entire month on a train.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of a second cargo train at the Cantonment Station in Karachi on Friday, the minister said he would travel place to place by rail from February 1 to 28.

“I will eat, sleep and stay there for one whole month to make the world record,” Rasheed added.

He went on to say that Pakistan Railways (PR) was the second largest state institution after army and was capable enough to “launch its own missile”.

The minister further said that like Prime Minister Imran Khan, he did not take any days off and this inspired his employees.

“No corruption will be tolerated in PR under my watch. There will be zero tolerance for corruption in PR. A minister is only temporary, but I will ensure there is zero tolerance for corruption in the department,” he added.

“No tolerance at all,” the minister reiterated, adding that no one would be allowed to create any obstacle in the way of Karachi Circular Railway.

Rasheed announced that all freight offices, as well as his own office, was being shifted to Karachi. “We would roll over anyone who comes in the way of Karachi’s progress,” he warned.

Vowing to inaugurate a ‘VIP train’ on Pakistan Day, the minister promised to turn PR into a profitable department and said that he would put his 100 per cent effort with full dedication to make it happen.
