Heavy rainfall adds to people’s misery in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Low lying areas of Malakand, Batkhela, Dargai, Lower Dir were inundated as a flood-like situation was created in water channels after heavy rainfall hit these areas.

Weather reports showed that intermittent rain for the last three days and snowfall on mountains have dropped the mercury to a considerable level in Lower Dir.

People were also forced to remain indoors due to the harsh chilly condition.

The heavy snowfall and rain have blocked the road leading towards Pak-Afghan border at Shahi while Dir-Chitral road was also closed for vehicular traffic due to snowfall.

In Abbottabad, the three-day spell of rains and snowfall has taken a break but still, the forecast showed that chances of rainfall were there in plain areas of the district.

Three feet of snowfall was recorded in Nathia Gali, Ayubia and Changa Gali while in Thandyani, Mashkpuri and Merajani four feet of snowfall was recorded.

The minimum temperature was recorded as -6 degrees centigrade in Nathiya Gali while it was recorded as -5 degrees centigrade in Ayubia.
