LAHORE: The Punjab bureaucracy on Thursday underwent major reshuffling as Captain (r) Mehmood was appointed forest secretary and Dr Raheel Siddiqui was made additional chief secretary of urban development.

Nabeel Javed was posted as secretary of Women’s Development Department (WDD) while Erum Bokhari was appointed Secretary School Education Department. Sajid Zafar was given additional responsibility as secretary of Higher Education Department in Punjab.

Earlier this year while hinting of a bureaucratic overhaul in the province, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had called on public servants to commit themselves to arduous, result-oriented work.

“Now that when the bureaucracy has been given full liberty for doing work, we want results,” CM Buzdar said while addressing a meeting at the Punjab Civil Secretariat, Lahore.

CM Buzdar unveiled a 19-point agenda which he said would lead to good governance and prosperity. The chief minister also called on the police and public administration to work in close coordination to tackle the province’s problems.
