ISLAMABAD: Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday broke down while speaking about Kashmir in the National Assembly, urging the lawmakers not to do politics on the issue.

He said that the environment in assembly is akin to a tea party and debate on recent Kashmir incident could not get serious attention from parliamentarians as it deserved.

He failed to contain his tears and distressfully narrated the plight being faced by Kashmiri youth at the hands of the Indian military.

He further said that “I’m begging to the politicians that they should avoid doing politics on this issue”. “We are not sending a good message to people of Kashmir,” he added.

“House is divided on this issue. Shehbaz Sharif and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should have shown more maturity and have joined PM Imran in sending a threatening message to the Modi-led government,” he said.

He also quoted UK Prime Minister Winston Churchill on the occasion and said that like him, now is the time, to choose between dishonour or war, and Pakistan should pick war instead of dishonour.

“I want to ask Shah Mehmood Qureshi that if we want to record our anger and protest on this matter, then, why Indian foreign minister is present in Pakistan. We should disconnect every kind of relationship with India as soon as possible.”
