ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Babar Awan on Wednesday called on Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss a reply to the Election Commission of Pakistan over its notice to the premier on his Ghotki visit ahead of a by-poll.

In a media talk following the meeting, Awan said a fake complaint was registered against PM Khan over his recent Ghotki visit.

PM went to offer his condolence over the demise of cabinet member Ali Muhammad Mahar, not for political gathering, he continued.

He said we are replying to the ECP over the matter and in this regard, he had a consultation with the prime minister.

Replying to question, whether he is going to be inducted in the federal cabinet again, Awan replied, “Am I not looking good as a lawyer to you [the journalist]”.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had issued a show-cause notice to Prime Minister Imran Khan over undertaking a visit to Ghotki ahead of the by-election on NA-205 scheduled for July 18.

Regional Election Commissioner Abdul Rehman Arain served the notice on the prime minister to explain his position within a week after receipt of the notice or else disciplinary action under the relevant provision of law would be recommended to the ECP for necessary action in the matter.
