Cellular services will remain suspended in Karachi on Friday

KARACHI: Sindh government has banned cellular services in Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur in context of law and order situation ahead of 12 Rabiul Awwal–Eid Milad-un-Nabi.

The authorisation was given by the Interior Ministry on Friday, according to which the services would remain suspended from 8 am to 8 pm.

On Thursday, the ministry was approached by the Sindh government to request the suspension of mobile services for the safety of general public ‘due to the ongoing operation Rad-ul-Fasaad.’

The Sindh government had requested a complete blockade of mobile phone and internet services, according to the letter. Sindh government wanted the blockade for at least three cities i.e. Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur.

This letter was released by the provincial government in light of the Khairpur clash that took place on Thursday.

At least four people were killed and 10 injured during clashes between two groups during an Eid Miladun Nabi procession in Khairpur.

Three people were said to be critically injured in the firing incident. The injured were shifted to the nearby hospital. The reason behind feud and the crossfire between two groups is as yet unknown.
