Pakistan Cricket team to replace 25 MNAs during Parliamentary Cricket World Cup

(Disclaimer: this is a work of fiction. Learn to take a joke; you’ll live longer.)

In what will be another first in the history of Pakistan’s parliament the National Cricket Team is all set to replace 25 MNAs in the National Assembly as the latter will be in London for a weeklong Parliamentary Cricket World Cup tournament. With the national side currently incurring one embarrassing loss after another and parliament essentially at a standstill, the PCB and Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Azam Khan Swati agreed that a Parliamentary Cricket World Cup was an ideal opportunity to give everyone a breather and time for introspection.

“Not that it is any of your business, but seven days isn’t even that long a time and it really is only the budget that needs passing. No big deal!” replied MNA Zain Qureshi (captain of the parliamentary team), son of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, to a question regarding the criteria for the team he had picked.

Speaking exclusively with The Dependent Pakistan team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, sitting at a Sheesha Bar on Edgware Road in London where the side plays South Africa next at Lord’s, explained that he was ready to face any and all challenges in the assembly especially since his role even in the Pakistan cricket team was of an absentee leader with little situational awareness in the field. Sarfaraz will be taking PM Khan’s seat in parliament.
