National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal on Tuesday directed the NAB officials to take 179 mega corruption cases to their logical end.

Chairing a meeting at the NAB headquarters, he said all cases, especially those pertaining to mega corruption, were being pursued rigorously.

He assured that cases wouldn’t prolong for years in the accountability watchdog.

The chairman was told during a briefing that NAB had so far filed 105 references in total 179 mega corruption cases. It was informed that inquiries in 15 cases while investigation in 18 cases was underway.

The meeting was told that 41 cases had been wrapped up by the NAB. Javed Iqbal said cited Gallup survey had found people’s confidence in NAB.

Meanwhile, the NAB chairman also met a group of lawyers from Balochistan and assured them resolution of all their problems.

He said elimination of corruption from the country was the NAB’s top priority.

Iqbal said the NAB firmly believes in ‘accountability for all’. He underlined that the corrupt elements were being treated as per law.

Last week, the NAB chairman directed the accountability watchdog to take care of self-respect of the suspects being investigated as per law.

“Mega-corruption cases will not be run with the NAB for several years,” he said while talking to media in Islamabad. He said money embezzlement was the root cause of all evils.
