CII chief lauds NAB chief’s decision of not handcuffing suspects

ISLAMABAD: Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Chairman Dr Qibla Ayaz Wednesday lauded the statement given by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal for not handcuffing the accused until his guilt to be proved.

He said a previous recommendation and an opinion regarding this issue already existed and on the April 3, the apex body of the Council had further discussed this issue in detail, a press release said.

The CII chairman hoped that the NAB chairman’s recent narrative would improve the image of the country regarding human rights and respect for the dignity of humanity.

“It will also revive and enhance trust of the nation,” Dr Qibla Ayaz said adding media especially electronic should adopt responsible attitude so that the Islamic value of honoring humanity could be given due importance.

The Council had expressed its pleasure on NAB’s acknowledgment for its recommendation and hoped that its other recommendations would also be taken for consideration in positive manner, he added.
