KARACHI: Six workers were killed and one other injured on Saturday morning as a trolley lift fell at an under-construction building in Karachi’s Boat Basin.
The deceased include Abdul Rehman, Asad, Faisal, Riazul Haq, and Aslam.
Police said the labourers were standing in the lift and installing glass sheets when it fell all of a sudden. A part of the building also fell, however, the reason of the accident could not be ascertained yet.
Five laborers died on the spot. Three bodies were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and two to Civil Hospital, rescue officials said.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed authorities to provide facilities to the affected laborers. He also sought a detailed report from the authorities about the accident
