ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday met his Qatari counterpart Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani during the official two-day visit on the invitation of Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hammad Al Thani.

During his meeting with the Qatari PM, PM Imran discusses bilateral relations and increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Qatari PM Al Thani gave a dinner in the honour of the Pakistani prime minister, who was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and others.

Upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport in Doha, the prime minister was received by Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi upon arrival.

During his visit, PM Imran will also meet the Emir of Qatar. Issues of mutual interest will be discussed during the meeting, according to Qatari ambassador Saqr Bin Mubarak Al Mansouri.

The prime minister will also discuss the issue of exporting Pakistani manpower to Qatar.

The Qatari foreign minister in a meeting with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last year had offered 100,000 jobs for skilled and semi-skilled workers from Pakistan.

PM Imran has also previously called for increased trade between the two countries as well.

The trade between the two countries had increased by 104 per cent to about $1.6 billion in 2017 from $782 million in 2016.
