LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday suspended the deputy superintendent of Mianwali Central Jail for negligence in duty and on the complaints of the prisoners.

During his visit to the jail, the chief minister asked prisoners to openly share if anyone mistreated them and assured them of action against all such officials.

He also announced the payment of fine of a female prisoner and directed the deputy commissioner to provide tea, biscuits and chocolates to the children accompanying female inmates.

Buzdar visited different sections of the jail, besides the barracks of women prisoners and asked them about the problems being faced by them. He also inspected the health facilities being provided to sick inmates under treatment at the jail’s infirmary.

Later, the chief minister visited DHQ Mianwali and inaugurated the polio campaign after administering polio drops to children. He inspected the CT scan room, pathology lab, wards and trauma centre.

The chief minister also inquired after the patients’ health. “The DHQ will be made a better hospital and I will once again visit it soon,” he said while speaking on the occasion.

On the request of an aged woman, Buzdar announced that the government would bear the expenses of her son’s treatment.
