ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan on Thursday informed the House that Islamabad Food Authority Bill will be tabled soon in the National Assembly (NA) for approval.

Responding to question during question hour he said, “The Bill of Islamabad Food Authority has been drafted with the consultation of all stakeholders and it will be tabled in the National Assembly soon for approval”.

Responding to another question, he said that cleanliness of the Shah Faisal Mosque had been outsourced. “Cleanliness of the mosque has been outsourced since its operation and 37 persons including two supervisors and four sweepers have been engaged by the contractor on minimum wages fixed by the government,” he added.

He said the mosque was whitewashed on regular basis as per the availability of funds. The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) had been providing regular sanitation services to the citizens of all the sectors of Islamabad including sweeping, garbage collection and its transportation to the final disposal site.

He said there was no proper sanitary landfill site in Islamabad for disposal of about 600 tons of garbage generated daily.

He further said that basic amenities allowed as per Wildlife Ordinance, 1979, were available at trails of Margallah hills and that washrooms were available at starting points of trail 5 and 6. However, he said that visitors carry drinking water on their own.

“Cleanliness of trails was being carried out on regular basis. The cleaning staff has been deputed on a permanent basis for cleaning and dustbins available,” he concluded.
