KARACHI: Sanjay Mathrani, a Hyderabad-based young man who hails from Sindh’s Umerkot district, has recently been rewarded with the Global Undergraduate Exchange Programme to pursue a semester of his bachelor’s degree in the Institute of United States.

While talking to Daily Regional Times of Sindh, Mathrani expressed a deep longing for his Sindhi culture and language. “I am a folklorist who intensely wants to preserve and promote my tradition,” he said.

With the scholarship, he has proved that a person’s background doesn’t matter when one is committed to one’s roots and touching the highest level of success in one’s life. Now, he is representing not only his community but also his Sindhi institution.

Mathrani is currently a student of media and communication studies at the University of Sindh, Jamshoro. Apart from extraordinary academic results, he has been an active member of multiple media outlets and awareness seminars and is also a human rights activist.

He is fervent cultural-ambassador who is always keen to promote his indigenous culture wherever he gets the chance to do so.
