On his 5th death anniversary, Pakistan remembered the 16-year-old Aitzaz Hassan who embraced martyrdom while tackling a suicide bomber outside his school in Hangu.
On January 7, 2014, Hassan was standing outside his school when he noticed the bomber trying to enter the building. The 16-year-old grabbed the bomber and stopped him from entering his school, where hundreds of children were present at the time. The terrorist blew himself resulting in the martyrdom of Aitzaz Hassan.
He was awarded Sitara-e-Juraat by Government of Pakistan.
Remembering his sacrifice, the politicians, the Inter-Services Public Relations director general (ISPR DG) and people paid him tribute on Twitter.
Paying him the tribute, Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Hussain Chaudhry tweeted: “Today is the Death Anniversary of Shaheed #AitzazHassan young boy sacrificed his life but saved 100s of students by preventing a suicide attack on a Hangu School, toNight PTV ll telecast a Film #Salute by Shahzad Rafique on this young boy, #ShaheedoonkoSalam.”
