LHC chief justice’s order suspended by court’s judge: report

LAHORE: Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan on Thursday suspended the administrative order of his Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah under which the LHC registrar Khursheed Anwar Rizvi was allowed premature retirement, reported a local English daily.

He ruled that people can hold the judiciary accountable and that it is not a sacred cow anymore. He was hearing a petition regarding the notification of Rizvi’s premature retirement and judicial allowance of Rs400, 000. Rizvi was due to retire in April but sought premature retirement and the incumbent CJ approved the same.

Justice Farrukh Irfan Khan suspended the CJ’s notification through a short order, on a petition moved by a lawyer and referred the petition to the CJ to form a larger bench to further proceed in the matter.
