–Bilawal Bhutto terms report ‘fictitious’, criticises leakage of damning report in media
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leadership on Monday rejected the joint investigation team’s (JIT) report presented in the Supreme Court earlier in the day that holds Zardari and Omni groups responsible in the money laundering case.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, the spokesperson of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto, claimed that “fictitious stories of mega money laundering scams were told when the report, in fact, is all about bills and sacrificial goats”.
Bilawal Bhutto also expressed disappointment over the leakage of the JIT report and said that “even the family court makes sure that its orders are implemented let alone the top court”.
The banking court in Karachi last week extended the interim bail of PPP Co-chairman Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur till January 7.
Another PPP stalwart Qamar Zaman Kaira remarked that there is “nothing new” in it [the report].
While talking to the media, the former federal minister said that “we have been hearing the contents of the report for quite a time and there is nothing new in it”.
He further added that “the top court had prohibited further discussion on the report until the decision is announced”.
“The impression that all the decisions have been made and the accused has been proven guilty is purposefully orchestrated,” Kaira regretted and asserted that “we will fight for our innocence since we have not committed any crime”.
The veteran politician went on to say that “the (hotels and laundry) bills mentioned in the JIT report are paid through companies” and that the “JIT report was biased and politically aimed and the court should take notice of it”.
