LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday reiterated that creation of a new province is the top-most priority of the government.

Addressing a special ceremony held in connection with the completion of first 100 days of the Punjab government, he announced that South Punjab secretariat will be made functional by July 2019.

Executive councils have been formed at federal and provincial levels for the creation of South Punjab province, he added.

“We will also resume the horse and cattle show”, the chief minister said.

He maintained that the time to materialise Prime Minister Imran Khan’s dream of a new Pakistan has come and added that every necessary step will be taken to improve each and every sector of the province.

“We are committed to serve the people and my doors are always open for the public.”

The chief minister informed the gathering that the Sehat Insaf Card programme will be launched in four districts in the first phase starting January, whereas its scope would be extended to the entire province in the future.

Buzdar announced that Good Governance Advisory Council has been set up for the first time in the history of the province while government land worth Rs171 billion has been recovered from land mafia.

“A new agriculture policy has also been formed for the welfare of the farmers and similarly a new education policy is being introduced for the betterment of the education sector,” he said.

He added that a new industrial policy has been approved which will create 1.2 million new jobs in the industrial sector and a reforms committee has started working to reform the police department.

Buzdar also said that the first-ever water plan is being prepared for Punjab as well.
