The Lahore Biennale Foundation on Friday announced t the appointment of Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation as a curator for the second edition of Lahore Biennale (LB02).
Similar to the first edition, LB02 will showcase large-scale installations in various locations across the city set to take place in 2020.
In a Facebook post, the Foundation shared the news of the aforementioned collaboration stating that “Al Qasimi has been pivotal in providing platforms for artists from Pakistan and South Asia through grants and commissions provided by the wide-ranging initiatives of the Sharjah Art Foundation as well as through her own curatorial practice.”
The first edition saw over 100 artworks showcased across seven major venues in Lahore with the participation of various artists and academics from across the globe.
At the occasion of Al Qasimi’s appointment, LBF Chairman said, “The Foundation is delighted to have Hoor on board. Apart from her deep knowledge and extensive curatorial experience, Al Qasimi brings a very special energy to her projects.”
Moreover, LBF’s Executive Director Qudsia Rahim said, “The selection of Hoor Al Qasimi as Curator for LB02 reaffirms the Lahore Biennale Foundation’s commitment to creating inclusive spaces that invite collaboration and engagement through art.”
