Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan’s Registrar Office on Thursday raised objections on former justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui’s revision petition filed under Article 183(4) of the Constitution to set aside his removal orders passed by the Supreme Judicial Council over controversial statements.

The petition in which Shaukat Siddiqui had made Federation of Pakistan through Law Ministry as its respondent was not entertained because it was said that the alternative remedies have not been resorted to by the petitioner, and therefore the application is not maintainable.

It was further said there were no sufficient grounds provided by the petitioner on which his application could be moved forward.

“The certificate provided at page 30 of this Constitution petition does not fulfil the requirements of Order XXV Rule 6 of the Supreme Court Rules, 1980,” it said.

Also, the Office maintained that a very wide scope of Article 183(4) of the Constitution has been demanded which would not be allowed on the basis of the precedent set by the SC in a previously decided case.
