No mobile phone services on Friday

The mobile phone services will remain suspended on Friday, the Ministry of Interior announced amid the deteriorating law and order situation in different parts of the province.

According to the Thursday’s press statement, there will be no mobile phone services from 9am to 9pm on Friday.

Meanwhile, the province-wide educational institutes will stay closed on Friday. Punjab Higher Education Department, in a notification, said that all public and privately managed universities and colleges will be closed across the province on Nov 2, 2018.

Federal Minister of Interior Fawad Chaudhry said, “Mobile services of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Gujranwala will be blocked from 8am till Maghrib.”

The supplementary exams under Punjab Secondary Education Board for Intermediate on Nov 2 and 3 have been postponed too, the Punjab government spokesman said, adding that new dates will be announced later.

Similar announcements were made by the private schools across Punjab.

An unusual traffic plan has already been formulated with the closure of major highways in Lahore and other major cities. The Motorway will also remain closed for all kinds of traffic.
