KARACHI: Sindh Rangers and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police on Friday in a joint operation apprehended a former CTD Inspector form Malir area of the metropolis for alleged involvement in supply of weapons to Lyari gangsters.
According to Rangers spokesman, on an intelligence report, rangers and CTD police conducted a targeted raid in Malir area and arrested an accused, Zaheer Ahmed alias Gul.
The spokesman further said that the accused was terminated by CTD department from service in 2106 over his alleged involvement in kidnapping for ransom, drug peddling, land garbing and supply of weapons to Lyari gangsters.
The paramilitary force also recovered one illegal Kalashnikov, one 222-rifle, one 12-bore rifle, a 32-bore pistol, one hand grenade, and large quantity of rounds, 27 kilograms of explosive material, two kilogram hashish and different countries’ currencies from his possession.
The accused was handed over to CTD police for further investigation.
