Customs officials recover weed worth over Rs15 million

KARACHI: Pakistan Customs on Saturday foiled a bid to smuggle weed and arrested an accused identified as Shah Muhammad, a resident of Quetta Saryab Road.

A passenger bus was also taken into custody. According to customs sources, during the snap checking of the vehicles, a passenger bus coming from Quetta was signalled to stop for search by the customs staff led by Inspector Aziz Ahmed.

On search of the bus, the team recovered huge packets containing the contraband hidden beneath the driver’s seat.

According to Jacobabad Customs Check Post Incharge Inspector Aziz Ahmed, they seized around 255 kilogrammes of fine quality weed and the value of the contraband in the international market stands at more than Rs15 million.

The contraband and the passenger bus were taken custody along with the driver. An FIR has also been registered accordingly.

It is pertinent to mention here that this was the second big bid to smuggle drugs which were foiled by Sukkur customs officials during last 7 days.
