ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) management has decided to remove as many as 80 air hostesses serving on various stations in cities including Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore from their services, it was learnt on Friday.

The affected air hostesses were serving the PIA on a contract basis and the management has decided to not extend their contracts. Following the decision, the management has sought a list of the air hostesses on a seniority basis.

The purpose of their removal from services is to reduce the financial burden on the organisation.  As per the details, more than 1,850 air hostesses are currently serving the PIA.

However, PIA Spokesperson Mashood Tajor, when asked, refused the possibility of any such decision. He said no employee is being removed from service, denying any such development.

He said many of PIA employees are languishing in the jail of different countries due to their alleged involvement in illegal activities and many others are on leaves.

He said many of PIA employees have been left the organisation, adding that no one was removed from service. The spokesperson said he did not receive any letter in this connection so far.
