KARACHI: A low turnout was witnessed in the by-elections held in the various constituencies of Karachi on Sunday.

The polling commenced in the morning but almost all of the polling stations remained deserted until noon when people started arriving to cast their votes. Disabled, senior citizens and people from all walks of life participated in the by-elections and a groom was also seen casting his vote at one polling station.

Relatively fewer women participated in the by-elections as compared to the general elections. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) also took notice of this.
