ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday said a petition seeking a ban on the release of The Donkey King was “non-maintainable”.

Justice Aamer Farooq of IHC initially reserved its verdict on whether the petition is maintainable or not, before dismissing during the initial hearing Friday.

The petitioner had sought a ban on the animated film saying that it was ‘humiliating’ towards the Raja caste.

Scheduled to release on October 13, The Donkey King has been helmed by Aziz Jindani, and features the voices of Shabbir Jan, Sarmad Khoosat, Hina Dilpazeer, Jawed Sheikh, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Erfan Khoosat, Ismail Tara, Adeel Hashmi, Irfan Malik, Faisal Qureshi, Ahsan Rahim and Shafaat Ali.

The film revolves around Mangu, a donkey launderer, voiced by Jan Rambo, who has been selected as the next king of the town he resides in. However, Mangu’s ascent to the throne is a scheme by a fox, voiced by Hina Dilapazeer, who hopes to control the kingdom through him. When Mangu realises this he must act as a true king and save his kingdom.
