Forensics’ AAK school of investigation inaugurated

RAWALPINDI: The Aftab Ahmed Khan School of Investigation that was set up in the Sihala Police College with the collaboration of the German government has been inaugurated.

Sihala Police College Commandant Muhammad Ehsan Tufail and Head of GIZ Crime Investigation Services project in Pakistan Dr Astrid Bosch inaugurated the school.

Deputy Commandant Sihala Police College Ashfaq Alam, former DIG Ahmed Mubarak Ahmed, senior officers of Punjab Police, German Police Officer and Senior Adviser Mr Juergen Hauser and trainers from German Police Jorge Klein and Sisanne Grimm were also present. The Aftab Ahmed Khan School of Investigation has three departments: Digital Investigation, Death Investigation and Violence against Women and Children.

It is pertinent to mention here that the school is named after famous police officer Aftab Ahmad Khan who is the pioneer of forensic sciences in Pakistan.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Sihala Police College Commandant Muhammad EhsanTufail said the establishment of just, peaceful and equitable society is the common cause of humanity and this spirit is working behind the establishment of the investigation school in Sihala Police College with the cooperation of Germany.

He said this investigation school will prove a milestone in improving investigation system in the Punjab Police. He said big crimes in Pakistan get a prominent place in the media and that he wishes police officers of the Punjab Police get modern investigation training and are able to unearth criminals behind big crimes and their investigation achievements get a prominent place in the media. He said police officers should work free from any pressure in the discharge of their duties and work as per legal requirements.

Head of GIZ Crime Investigation Services project in Pakistan Dr Ms Astrid Bosch said Germany is providing cooperation for the modern investigation training for Punjab and Sindh police, and this investigation school has provided a platform for German police to share their experiences with Pakistani police officers. She said the main objective of the investigation is to reveal the truth and help get justice.
