LAHORE: Punjab government on Friday decided to accept forms for the construction of homes for homeless people starting from October.

Upon assuming office, Prime Minister Imran Khan had promised to build a residential facility for five million homeless people. He had constituted a task force for the purpose.

According to reports, the task force formed on a federal level has completed its inspection and has decided to construct homes for homeless in existing cities, as well as planned ones that will be built.

In order to collect data for construction, the government will accept housing requests from homeless people starting October 15.

Those wishing to apply for a house will need to collect the required form prepared with the help of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) that will be available at designated branches of banks.

Additional reformative measures will be taken under which a law would be drafted to grant constitutional support to homeless individuals and an authority would be formed and taken to the assembly for approval.
