LARKANA: Villages of 11 Union Councils (UCs) of Dokri Taluka are without basic facilities including proper roads, gas, schools, clean drinking water and drainage system.

Due to lack of basic facilities, contaminated water and poor drainage, the poor villagers brave diseases.

Local Bodies system has miserably failed to deliver in this Taluka, especially during past over ten years during which no practical development was carried out in this area.

If funds ever sanctioned to the local government department, they were either misused or embezzled by the corruption mafia.

The recently elected chairmen have also miserably failed to resolve the core issues confronted by the citizens of these UCs.

In this connection, villagers of these UCs including Ghulam Sarwar Thahim, Mahmood Jhatyal, Muhammad Ibrahim Junejo, Rahib Jhatyal and others told newsmen on Sunday that due to mismanagement and massive corruption no development works have been carried out in their respective villages since years. They alleged that their streets are without CC Blocks, there is no sewage system hence the poisonous water is always standing in the streets due to which mosquito breeding has increased.

They alleged that monthly budget of Rs0.5 million to each UC is spent on personal affairs without utilizing it on the welfare projects for the people as the UC employees are also crying for non-payment of monthly salaries to them.

They urged the authorities to look into the issues faced by the residents of UCs and directly concerned authorities to provide all fundamental facilities at the village level before the affected villagers take to streets.
