ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar Thursday said that no concrete steps have been taken for eradication of murders on sectarian grounds.
He gave these remarks during the hearing of Dera Ismail Khan target killing suo-motu case in Supreme Court.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government law officer said that a ban has been imposed on the use of the loudspeaker to curb such violence and search operations have also been conducted against miscreants.
The CJP remarked, “No solid steps have been taken to curb sectarian-related killings in Dera Ismail Khan. The chief secretary should file a report that what action has been taken to address the problem.”
The court, while rejecting the IGP’s report, said that it seems as if some section officer has prepared the report while sitting in the office.
Petitioner Syed Wusatullah told the court that FIR of the murder case was lodged but no one responsible for the murder has been arrested, adding that Ilyas group and Irfan group are behind the terror-related incidents in the area.
The CJP remarked, “Controlling the law and order situation is the responsibility of the government and will be asked to evolve proper plan to sort out the problem. Restlessness prevails among the people of the area after seeing the situation.”
