QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Jam Kamal and Commander Southern Command Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa jointly laid a floral wreath in an impressive wreath-laying ceremony at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, Quetta Cantt on Thursday to pay homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the defence of the motherland.
A special dua was also offered for all the martyrs.
Later, Jam Kamal and commander southern command attended a reception given in honour of the families of the martyrs.
While speaking to the families of the martyrs, Balochistan CM said that the sacrifice of their loved ones will never be forgotten and country will always remember the supreme sacrifice of those who laid down their lives to ensure the sanctity of the country.
Lieutenant General Asim Saleem Bajwa also paid rich tributes to the martyrs and said that Pakistan Army has a rich tradition of chivalry, and the sacrifices of the martyrs are a golden chapter in the history of Pakistan. He added that security forces, with the support of the nation, are ready to take on any challenge.
He also vowed to help the Balochistan government for the capacity building of law enforcement agencies and said that Pakistan Army has chalked out a comprehensive training programme for police and levies which will enable them to combat terrorism and enforce the writ of the government.
Senators, parliamentarians, general officers and high ranking civil and military officials attended the ceremony.
