Two new Climate Change bodies to be constituted

ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Climate Change (MCC) will constitute two new climate change bodies called the Climate Change Council (CCC) and the Climate Change Authority (CCA) under the Pakistan Climate Change Act, 2017.

MCC Secretary Khizer Hayat Khan informed the Senate Climate Change Caucus about the decision in a recent meeting held at the Parliament House.

The CCC would be constituted as the apex decision-making body.

Both the Council and Authority will coordinate, monitor and supervise the implementation of the National Climate Change Policy and the Sustainable Development Goals.

To make the CCA functional, the ministry has demanded 282 posts whereas the Management Services Wing has agreed to 124 posts.

The case related to the creation of 124 posts has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
