ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Thursday ordered timely completion of Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) project, remarking that the people of Lahore were facing immense difficulties due to the delay.

While hearing the suo motu case on the awarding of contracts to private companies in Punjab’s mega projects, the top judge earlier summoned Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at 4pm.

However, OLMT Managing Director Sibtain Fazal Haleem told the court that there was no need to summon the province’s top officer as the parties concerned could resolve the matter among themselves.

The chief justice has directed all the parties concerned to hold a meeting in the court’s premises and inform the bench regarding the delay in the completion of Orange Line project.

During a previous hearing, the CJP had expressed anger over the delay in the OLMT scheme and sought a completion timeline for the project.

The contractor, Habib Construction Services, had informed the court that 90 per cent of the work had been completed on the OLMT.
