The committee constituted by the Balochistan Police Inspector General to probe into the Kharotabad incident has recommended holding a fresh inquiry and trial of former CCPO Dawood Junejo.
It also proposed sacking of Station House Officer (SHO) Fazlur Rehman and Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Raza Muhammad who should be tried for murder charges. Sources say the committee was formed for a departmental action after the tribunal, led by a Balochistan High Court judge, presented a report on the killing of five foreigners on May 17.
The committee, headed by Balochistan Constabulary Commandant Bashir Memon, held SHO Fazlur Rehman and ASI Raza Muhammad responsible for the incident and recommended that the two officers be dismissed from service immediately and nominated in the murder case. It also suggested initiating departmental action and trial of former CCPO Dawood Junejo. The committee said that the Deputy Inspector General Investigation should conduct a fresh probe into the gruesome act.
