After rumours claiming that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s professional photo shoot cost him around “Rs3.5 million” broke the internet, Pakistan Today reached out to the studio behind the shoot to learn what exactly was the case.

On Wednesday night, a post making rounds over the internet had claimed that Irfan Ahson of Fine Art Weddings by Irfan had done PM Khan’s photo shoot at the latter’s office, which cost him a hefty amount of Rs3.5 million.

It had come after the photographer shared his experience of shooting the photo session.

This led to social media users losing their cool and taking to Twitter to criticise the premier for “wasting so much money” amid claims of launching an austerity drive.

Later, the photographer, Irfan Ahson, himself stepped in and clarified that the photo shoot was but a “gift” to PM Khan.

“HAHAH This is hilarious! I did probono (FREE) as my very tiny little input for the Naya Pakistan he envisions! And may he succeed InshaAllah. And yes as my senior from Aitchison he deserved special discount :). Haters will hate!” wrote Irfan in a post on his Instagram account.

As Irfan, still did not mention what exactly did the “gift” cost, this scribe contacted his studio and learnt that “he had never charged anyone as much as Rs3.5 million in his career”.

“We have never invoiced anyone anything close to 3.5 million. Had this not been a gift to the prime minister, we would have thought of a price,” the studio told Pakistan Today while denying the rumours.

Earlier in the day, Irfan, a University of Texas graduate and an award-winning photographer, once again took to his social media account and denied the speculations himself as well.

Mocking the posts asserting that the shoot had cost PM Khan “Rs35 million”, he wrote, “Wow this is crazy! The price tag just went up ten times higher. LOL! By morning it will be 35 billion. Am becoming a billionaire by morning InshaAllah!”
