ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan emphasised on rooting out corruption from the country during a meeting with the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the PM reiterated that he wants to eliminate corruption and promote transparency in the country.
PM Imran told the NAB chief that indiscriminate accountability of corrupt elements remains the government’s top priority. He added that the government remains committed to further strengthening the anti-graft body and increasing the capabilities of institutions.
According to a statement issued by the PM House, PM Khan said, “The government is committed to extending all possible support to strengthen NAB and increase the bureau’s capacity.”
He also expressed satisfaction with NAB’s performance.
Justice (r) Iqbal congratulated Imran on assuming the office of the PM.
In his first speech as PM-elect, Khan had said, “First of all, we will start strict accountability. I promise to my God that everyone who looted this country will be made accountable.”
“I want you all to understand that the moment we start going after corrupt people, they will start raising a hue and cry. They are everywhere. They will come out on the streets. They will say that democracy is in danger. I want you all to continue standing with me. We will save this country or these corrupt people will save themselves,” he had also said.
