Former Pakistan right-handed batsman Mohammad Yousuf is celebrating his 44th birthday on Monday.

Yousuf was one of the best batsmen Pakistan has ever produced. He was especially famous for his stylish cover drivers and cut shots. With 1,788 Test runs in 2006, he scored most runs in a calendar year, a world record.

Paying tribute to the batsman, the International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted: “His 1,788 Test runs in 2006 were the most ever by a batsman in a calendar year. With 17,134 international runs, only Inzamamul-Haq and Younis Khan have scored more for Pakistan. Happy birthday !”

TOP FIVE INNINGS: 

On the occasion of his birthday, here are the top five innings the right-handed batsman played during his career.

1. 192 AGAINST ENGLAND IN LEEDS TEST: 

His 192 against England in Leeds Test match in 2006 may be one of the best innings by a Pakistani batsman on English soil.

2. DOUBLE CENTURY AGAINST ENGLAND IN 2006 LORDS TEST: 

Carrying on his form in 2006, Yousuf scored a double-century against England. It was the fourth double-century of his career and first against England.

3. MATCH WINNINGS INNINGS AGAINST SOUTH AFRICA IN SHARJAH IN 2000:

One of the best innings played by Muhammad Yousuf was against a strong South African side in 2000 in Sharjah. He scored vital 65 runs in the match when wickets were falling around him as at one stage Pakistan were 82/5. His innings took the total to 168. In reply, South Africa were bowled out on 101.

SOUTH AFRICAN INNINGS: 

4. 111 AGAINST AUSTRALIA IN 2004-05 MCG TEST: 

Another important inning by Yousuf was against Australia in a Test match at the MCG in 2004-05. He scored 111 against the Aussies and took the national team to a strong position.

5. LAST BALL SIX AGAINST INDIA TO COMPLETE HIS CENTURY in 2000: 

Yousuf was playing on 99 and it was the last ball of the innings. He whacked the last ball of the innings for a massive six to complete his century against India.
