LAHORE – Former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik failed to earn a place in Pakistan’s preliminary World Cup squad announced on January 4 due to his failure to explain heavy bank account. Although the PCB didn’t give any reasons for non-selection of Shoaib Malik and leg-spinner Danish Kaneria but it has been learnt that during the meeting of integrity committee, Malik failed to give answer regarding the presence of 90,000 British pounds in his bank account.
It is important to mention here that former skipper Shoaib Malik, despite scoring over 700 runs in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, has failed to force PCB selectors to include him in the World Cup probables as clouds of match fixing have also put him under the ICC’s scanner.
