87 temporarily displaced families have returned to the Mohmand tribal district from Afghanistan.
According to local administration, these families had entered the Manzari Cheena area of Baizal tehsil through the Torkham border crossing. Assistant commissioner Baizai Sher Alam Khan stated that the families had been shifted into homes of host families residing on the border.
These families were displaced from the region in 2007-08 when security forces led a crackdown against militants in the border area.
“Most of these displaced families were living in the eastern parts of Afghanistan like Kama, Gharai and Pateh Meena,” said a village elder.
