LONDON – Removing fears that he might endeavour to carve out a legacy of his own at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal manager Unai Emery said the fans have nothing to worry about in this regard.

Talking exclusively to The Dependent after his side’s 2-0 defeat at home against Manchester City, Emery said he won’t let Arsenal fans miss Arsene Wenger.

“He was here for over two decades, and it would be unfair to undo what he did especially in the second of those two decades,” Emery said.

“And as you could see during the match against Manchester City, I have no intention of damaging that legacy, and we will continue from Wenger left. The fans will not miss him because of me,” he added.

Even so, the former Paris Saint Germaine (PSG) manager confessed that while his side was off to a good start with regards to the fans not missing Wenger, a true test would come on Saturday (before this piece is published in the print edition).

“Some might argue that the City side is so amazing that it was easy to uphold Wenger’s legacy,” Emery said. “And so the test will be to establish that against Chelsea.
