ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) federal lawmaker Shazia Marri on Wednesday criticised the recently elected National Assembly (NA) Speaker Asad Qaisar for his discriminatory attitude towards female parliamentarians.
The PPP leader said that although Qaisar stood up for Members of National Assembly (MNA) who were men as they came to vote for the deputy speaker post, he completely ignored the women, adding that all parliamentarians are equal in the house irrespective of their gender.

In response to the PPP lawmaker, Qaiser said that he does respect female parliamentarians.
The NA speaker started to stand up for the women parliamentarians coming for the vote after objection raised by Marri. PPP leader Senator Sherry Rehman also raised the same objection.
“The women MNAs are being ignored! Is this the new Pakistan? Shocking,” she tweeted.
