Trust Karan Johar to rope in the biggest names in Bollywood for his directorial ventures.
After Kalank, Karan has finally announced his next period drama Takht set in the Mughal times putting rest to weeks of speculations and rumours.
Sharing the poster of the film, Karan also revealed an ensemble cast which includes Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar.
Taking to Twitter to make the big announcement, Karan wrote: “An incredible story embedded in history…An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne…a story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession… Takht is about war for love.”

While there are no details on the storyline yet, from the poster and Karan’s tweet, it can be deduced that the film is set in the Mughal era and will deal with a myriad of emotions: love, betrayal, family, ambition, greed and succession.
Not wanting to steal the thunder, but the logo of the film seems to be a tad bit inspired by the Game of Thrones logo and the titles of the film are also similar considering takht translates to throne in English. We’re hoping there is no similarity between the two.
The leading cast of the film including Ranveer, Anil and Vicky took to social media to make their announcement and express their excitement for their upcoming project.
Alia Bhatt also expressed her feelings on Twitter writing, “Back where I begun…to my roots! So so so so excited to be a part of this historical magnum opus! Takht! Directed by the one and only Karan Johar.”
