PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesman Fawad Chaudhry on Tuesday stated that prime minister-in waiting Imran Khan has returned the security protocol offered to him by the government.
It was reported that the country’s prime minister-elect returned the VVIP protocol and left for Peshawar accompanied by only two cars.
Furthermore, the PTI spokesman said, “Imran Khan did not take any protocol even after reaching Peshawar.”
“He has instructed that there should be no protocol vehicles [accompanying him],” Fawad said, adding, that “the PM nominee has also asked not to step up the route for him.”
Earlier on Monday, the PTI chairman had expressed his annoyance over the VVIP protocol given to him as he travelled from Bani Gala to a private hotel in Islamabad.
It had been reported that Imran Khan said that “the practice of protocols and the government stepping up the route for the prime minister should be stopped”.
He had also asked the Islamabad police to take back “their additional protocol vehicles” as he does not want to disturb the routine of the people.
Imran Khan was formally nominated by the PTI as the party’s candidate on Monday.
