Five of family killed in Barki land dispute clash

–Operations DIG takes notice of incident, assures justice to victims’ family

 

PHULARWAN: Five members of a family were killed in a clash between two groups in the Barki area of the provincial capital on Monday night.

The fight broke out between two groups which resulted in the use of arms. Three of the slain brothers were identified as Qurban Ali, Abdul Rasheed and Basheer Ahmed.

Soon after the incident was reported, police sealed the area for further investigation and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital.

After the bodies were handed over to the heirs of the deceased, the family took to Faisal Chowk, placed the bodies on the road outside Punjab Assembly and protested against the killings.

Meanwhile, Lahore DIG (Operations) Shahzad Akbar took notice of the incident and directed Cantonment SP Bilal Iftikhar to supervise the investigation. He also assured the victims’ family that those behind the killings would be brought to justice at all costs.

It may be noted that these groups have fought in the past as well one of which resulted in the death of four people.
