MULTAN: Multan Waste Management Company (MWMC) has devised a plan for the removing of offals and maintaining cleanliness in the city during Eidul Azha.
Auction for the purchase of 100,000 degradable shopping bags and hiring of heavy machinery would be held at MWMC central office on Aug 8.
MWMC Manager Operations Usman Khursheed told APP here on Sunday that 68 loader rickshaws, purchased by the company, would arrive before Eid, while 10 loaders, 30 trollies, 68 pick-up vans, five dumpers, heavy loaders having 25-ton waste capacity, one excavator, six blades and chain dozer for landfill site would be rented.
He said that 410 labourers would also be hired for Eid days. Three hundred bottles of phenyl and 500 maund white powder had also been purchased.
Khursheed said that the degradable shopper bags would be distributed among citizens to collect offals door-to-door during Eidul Azha while awareness drive would also be launched before Eid to keep the city clean.
He said that for the first time, the company would provide a meal to sanitary workers on three days of Eid. He said that the recruitment of sanitary workers and other staff would be made soon to meet the shortage of staff. He said that MWMC Managing Director Anwar-ul-Haq would supervise the cleanliness operation.
