BAHAWALPUR: A clash between police squad and villagers in Basti Sahlan on Friday night resulted in one person being killed and injury to four policemen, a local media outlet reported on Saturday.
Saddar SHO (Station House Officer) Sajjad Ahmed, dressed in plainclothes, conducted a raid at the house of Altaf Ahmed after reports that liquor was stocked there. Policemen opened fire resulting in Ahmed’s death after family members and villagers surrounded the officers.
A heavy contingent of police force was deployed to the location after officers were taken hostage by the locals over the killing.
The body has been shifted to a morgue and further investigation over the event has been ordered.
