Pre-monsoon rains are likely to start during Eidul Fitr as thundershowers with dust storms at scattered places of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have been forecasted, Met Office said on Wednesday.
According to a press release issued by Pakistan Meteorological Department, pre-monsoon rain will start from Saturday. “Moist currents will start to penetrate on Friday and rain-thundershower is expected in the country,” it added.
The Met Office further informed that rain-thundershower “is expected at scattered places in Islamabad, upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions), KP, FATA and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Sahiwal division during Eid days (Saturday, Sunday and Monday)”.
In an earlier forecast, the department had said that moon is unlikely to be sighted on Thursday and hence Eidul Fitr will be celebrated on June 16 (Saturday). However, Ruet-i-Hilal committee will hold a session for sighting moon on Thursday eve.
